Algal Toxin Standards — Overview

GLW/CL produces and provides a variety of algal toxin standards for research purposes, including microcystins, nodularin and cylindrospermopsin. These standards are cultured and developed in strictly controlled environments.

GreenWater Laboratories/CyanoLab maintains a liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry /mass spectrometry system (LC/MS/MS) for the identification and quantification of specific cyanotoxins, and has all available cyanotoxin standards (microcystin-LR, microcystin-RR, microcystin-LA, microcystin-LF, microcystin-LW, cylindrospermopsin, nodularin, anatoxin-a, saxitoxin, neosaxitoxin, carbamoyl saxitoxin, lyngbyatoxin-A, debromoaplysiatoxin, domoic acid, okadaic acid and beta methyl-amino alanine) in its chemical inventory on site. Toxin analyses are preformed via both LC/MS/MS and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) dependent on the toxin in question. GWL/CL also has the capability and experience to isolate, culture, and grow algae under laboratory conditions to specifically identify and characterize toxin producers/production.
